Agent setup guide
Contract Review & Redline Agent
First-pass review against your Notion playbook page: issues, risk levels and suggested redlines.
What it does
First-pass review against your Notion playbook page: issues, risk levels and suggested redlines.
- Receives a contract's text, the side you represent and any instructions from your form or document tool through a webhook.
- Reads your contract playbook from its Notion page on every review, so the latest positions are always used.
- AI reviews it clause by clause against your playbook: deviations, risk levels, missing clauses, vague terms, and the deadlines and obligations you'd take on.
- For each issue it quotes the original text and suggests paste-ready redline language, plus the question the attorney or client must decide.
- High-risk contracts are flagged to your legal channel in Slack straight away.
- An attorney reviews and edits the issue list in Reviews; the approved memo is saved as a page in your Notion database.
What it needs
- A paid plan (agents run live on paid plans).
- An AI provider key (Settings → AI Providers), used under your firm's policy for client documents.
- Slack and Notion, connected in Settings → Integrations.
- Your contract playbook on a Notion page shared with Fluxo Flow, and a form or tool that can send the contract text to a webhook URL.
What it doesn't do
- It isn't legal advice and doesn't replace attorney review; every memo waits for an attorney.
- It doesn't open Word or PDF files or produce a tracked-changes document; send the text, and apply the suggested redlines in Word.
- It doesn't connect to document-management systems (NetDocuments, iManage).
- Very long contracts may need to be sent in parts.
- It reads one playbook page's top-level text (up to 500 blocks or 50,000 characters); text inside toggles or sub-pages isn't read.
Availability and plans
Available
Its workflow is built and tested, and every app it needs is live. You can get it and set it up now.
Included free on the Enterprise plan; on other paid plans it's a one-time purchase per workspace (the price is on the Agents page). The Agents page in the app always shows its current status.
Before you start
- A paid plan: agents run live, and the Free plan only runs Dry Runs.
- An AI provider key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and more) in Settings → AI Providers. AI usage is billed by your provider.
- These apps, connected in Settings → Integrations: Slack and Notion.
- A form, app or system that can send each new item to a webhook URL (the agent starts from a webhook).
- About 20 minutes.
Set it up step by step
Get the agent first (buy it, or it's already yours when your plan includes it), then in Agents → My agents press “Set up this agent”. That creates the agent's workflow in your workspace (it counts towards your plan's workflow limit) and opens the canvas with a setup checklist above it. Each item links to the exact place to go and ticks itself off when it's done.
1. Connect your AI provider
The AI steps run on your own key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and more). Add one in Settings → AI Providers.
2. Connect Slack
Connect the Slack workspace your legal team uses (Settings → Integrations → Slack).
3. Connect Notion
Connect your Notion workspace (Settings → Integrations → Notion) and share your playbook page and contracts database with Fluxo Flow (••• → Connections).
4. Point it at your contract playbook
Open “Read your contract playbook”, pick your Notion account and paste the playbook page link. The review is only as good as the playbook.
| Setting | What to enter | In step |
|---|---|---|
| Notion account (playbook) | The Notion workspace your contract playbook page is in. Pick your connected Notion account. | “Read your contract playbook” |
| Contract playbook page | Paste the link of the Notion page with your preferred and fallback positions per clause (liability cap, indemnities, IP, confidentiality, termination, payment, governing law, data protection) and the clauses you require. Share it with Fluxo Flow first (••• → Connections). Keep positions in the page's top-level text, not inside toggles. | “Read your contract playbook” |
5. Pick the legal channel
Open “Flag high-risk contracts in Slack” and pick your account and channel. Invite the app to private channels first (/invite @Fluxo Flow).
| Setting | What to enter | In step |
|---|---|---|
| Slack account | The Slack workspace high-risk flags are posted to. Pick your connected Slack account. | “Flag high-risk contracts in Slack” |
| Legal channel | The channel your attorneys watch, e.g. #contracts. | “Flag high-risk contracts in Slack” |
6. Pick your contracts database
Open “Save the review memo to Notion” and pick your account and database.
| Setting | What to enter | In step |
|---|---|---|
| Notion account | The Notion workspace your contracts database is in. Pick your connected Notion account. | “Save the review memo to Notion” |
| Contracts database | The Notion database approved review memos are added to (share it with Fluxo Flow via ••• → Connections). | “Save the review memo to Notion” |
7. Test it with Dry Run
Press Dry Run: the agent runs on sample data with no messages sent and nothing written to your apps.
8. Switch the trigger on
Open the trigger, switch the webhook on and send contracts (text, contract type, our side, requester) to its URL. Assign the review step to your attorneys.
How it works
The agent is a normal workflow with 8 steps (1 AI step, with a person approving in Reviews). You can open, edit and monitor it like any other workflow.
- Contract to review — Starts when your form or app sends data to the agent's webhook URL. Your intake form or document tool posts the contract's text, which side you represent and any instructions to the workflow's webhook URL.
- Read your contract playbook — Notion: Read a page's text. Reads the text of your contract playbook page in Notion (preferred and fallback positions per clause, required clauses), up to 500 blocks or 50,000 characters, so the review always uses the version your lawyers keep up to date.
- Review the contract against your playbook — AI step (runs on your AI provider key). AI reads the contract clause by clause against your playbook, lists deviations, risks, missing clauses and key dates, and suggests redline language for each issue.
- High risk? — Decision: picks the branch to follow. Contracts with high-risk issues are flagged to your legal channel in Slack straight away.
- Flag high-risk contracts in Slack — Slack: Post a message. Branch: High risk. Posts the contract, counterparty, number of high-risk issues and the summary to your legal channel.
- Not high risk — Kept in the run history. Branch: Not high risk. Other contracts go through review without a Slack flag.
- Attorney reviews the issue list — A person approves or rejects it in Reviews (the run waits). An attorney checks the issues and suggested redlines in Reviews, edits them and approves saving the memo to Notion.
- Save the review memo to Notion — Notion: Create a page in a database. Branch: Approved. Creates a page in your Notion contracts database with the issue list, suggested redlines and open questions.
Test it with Dry Run
Press Dry Run in the canvas. The agent runs on the sample data stored on its trigger (the “Sample data for Dry Run” box), so you can check every step's output before anything is live. Edit the sample to match the fields your own form or app sends.
Sample data fields
contract_title, counterparty, our_side, contract_type, requested_by, instructions, contract_text.
- Nothing is sent or written: app actions, emails and Slack posts are simulated, and AI steps don't call your AI provider.
- Approval steps use the Dry Run decision you pick in the step's settings (approved, rejected or timeout), so you can try each branch.
Go live
- Open the trigger, switch the webhook on and send contracts (text, contract type, our side, requester) to its URL. Assign the review step to your attorneys.
- The webhook is protected by a secret: send it in the header shown in the Activation panel (requests without it are refused with 403). Each request starts one run.
- The setup checklist adds a “paid plan” item before activation: live runs need a paid plan (the Free plan only runs Dry Runs).
- When every checklist item is done and the trigger is on, the checklist says “Live — this agent is running”. Follow its runs in the workflow's History tab and in Analytics → Agents.
Questions
Does it produce a tracked-changes Word file?
No. It gives the original text and suggested replacement language for each issue in a Notion memo; the attorney makes the changes in Word.
Where does it get our positions from?
From one Notion page you keep: your preferred and fallback positions per clause and the clauses you require, written however you like. It's read on every review, so edits apply to the next contract. It reads the page's top-level text (up to 500 blocks or 50,000 characters); text inside toggles or sub-pages isn't read.
Can I upload a PDF?
Send the contract as text (copy it from Word or a text-based PDF). It doesn't open files itself.
Troubleshooting
- “No AI provider connected” or a rejected key: connect or fix the key in Settings → AI Providers, then press Test there.
- A checklist item stays unticked: the setting is still empty or still contains its placeholder text. Open the step from the checklist and fill it in.
- An app step fails with “Needs reconnect”: the account's access was revoked or expired. Reconnect it in Settings → Integrations.
- Slack says the app isn't in the channel: in Slack, type /invite @Fluxo Flow in that channel (always needed for private channels).
- Nothing happens when your form sends data: check the webhook is switched on and the request carries the secret header (403 means it's missing or wrong).
- A run shows as paused: it's waiting for someone in Reviews to approve or reject it.
- A step failed: open the run in History and check that step in the Trace tab for the error and what it received.
