Import & export

Import & export

Move workflows between workspaces, bring them over from n8n or Make, and download all of a workspace's data.

Workflow files (.fluxo.json)

Any member can export a workflow: press Export (the download button) in the canvas top bar, or the download icon on a workflow card on the Workflows page. You get a <name>.fluxo.json file with the workflow's steps, connections and settings. To export several at once, press Select on the Workflows page, pick the workflows, then Export selected: you get a zip of .fluxo.json files. A single saved version can be exported from the Versions tab of the Workflow Panel.

The file is a versioned JSON format (format "fluxo.workflow", version 1). Besides the workflow it lists what it needs: the apps it uses, how many AI steps it has, and the credentials to set up.

What's removed from every export

Credential and connection references, API keys and tokens, passwords, webhook secrets, secret headers (Authorization, X-API-Key…), secret URL parameters (?api_key=…), credential URLs (Slack/Discord/Teams incoming webhooks), anything that looks like a token in your prompts or bodies, links to other workflows, assigned reviewers, and all run results. Each removed item is replaced with a { "$needsSetup": … } marker that says what to connect again. AI provider keys are never part of a workflow.

Importing a workflow

  • Workflows page → Import. Drop a file or paste its JSON (up to 1 MB and 500 steps).
  • Fluxo checks the file and shows a preview: the name (you can change it), the steps, the apps it uses, its AI steps and the AI provider they'll run on, what you'll need to set up, and any warnings. Nothing is created until you press Import.
  • Import creates a new workflow (your plan's workflow limit applies) and opens it in the canvas with a Finish setup checklist. Each item ticks itself off when you fill it in; until then it also shows as a validation warning.
  • AI steps get a model from the AI provider your workspace has connected, the same way templates do.
  • Imported schedules and webhooks are switched off. Webhook triggers get a new URL when you turn the workflow on.

Owners, admins and automation editors can import (the same people who can create workflows). Every import and export is recorded in the activity log.

Importing from n8n and Make (best effort)

The importer also reads n8n workflow exports (workflow menu → Download) and Make scenario blueprints (scenario → … → Export Blueprint). It recognises the format automatically and converts common steps. Conversion is best effort: always review the result and Dry Run it before turning it on.

Code, Function and anything elseA placeholder step to rebuild, with the original settings (minus credentials) in a note

The preview shows a conversion report for every step: converted, approximated (check it) or needs rebuild, plus "x of y steps converted". Credentials in the original file are never read or copied; you connect your own. Expressions like {{ $json.email }} or {{1.email}} become {{input.email}}; references to earlier steps or tool-specific functions are kept as they are and flagged. Placeholder steps block a real run until you replace them.

Coming from Zapier?

Zapier has no portable export of Zaps, so they can't be imported. Rebuild the Zap instead (it's usually quick): list its trigger, actions and any Filters or Paths, start from a similar template or a blank workflow, use an AI step for AI by Zapier, a Router for Paths and Filters and a Transformer for Formatter steps, then Dry Run it. The Import window has a step-by-step checklist.

Full workspace export

Owners and admins can download everything in a workspace: Settings → Danger Zone → Export all workspace data. The zip is built in the background; you get an email (a service message) with a link when it's ready, and it also appears in Danger Zone with a Download button. Downloads require signing in as an owner or admin and each one is recorded in the activity log.

  • One export can be in progress at a time, and up to 3 can be requested per day.
  • Files are deleted 7 days after they're ready (the export then shows as expired). Request a new one any time.
  • Exports larger than 500 MB stop with a clear error; contact support and we'll prepare it for you.
