Agent setup guide

Metrics Digest Analyst

Reads your KPI sheet every week and posts trends, anomalies and missed targets to Slack.

Available About 15 min to set up

What it does

Reads your KPI sheet every week and posts trends, anomalies and missed targets to Slack.

  • Runs on a schedule (Mondays at 8:00 by default) and reads your metrics tab in Google Sheets.
  • AI compares each metric's latest period with the previous one and the recent average, quoting the values it compared, and checks your targets.
  • Each metric's % change vs the previous period is recalculated in code before it's posted — never by the AI; anything the AI got wrong is corrected and flagged (the recent average is the AI's, so double-check it).
  • Flags moves over 20% and missed targets, with possible explanations framed as things to check, and lists data problems (blank cells, missing periods).
  • Posts a short digest to Slack: to your alerts channel when something needs attention, otherwise to your metrics channel.
  • Every digest is kept in the run history.

What it needs

  • A paid plan (agents run live on paid plans).
  • An AI provider key (Settings → AI Providers).
  • Google Sheets and Slack, connected in Settings → Integrations.
  • A Google Sheet with one row per period and one column per metric, kept up to date by you or another workflow.

What it doesn't do

  • It doesn't connect to databases or warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Postgres…) or write SQL.
  • It doesn't answer ad-hoc questions or draw charts; it posts a scheduled text digest.
  • It doesn't know causes it can't see in the data: explanations are hypotheses to check. Double-check figures before big decisions.
  • It reads one tab per run; very large sheets (thousands of rows) should be trimmed to recent periods.

Availability and plans

Available

Its workflow is built and tested, and every app it needs is live. You can get it and set it up now.

Included free on the Enterprise plan; on other paid plans it's a one-time purchase per workspace (the price is on the Agents page). The Agents page in the app always shows its current status.

Before you start

  • A paid plan: agents run live, and the Free plan only runs Dry Runs.
  • An AI provider key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and more) in Settings → AI Providers. AI usage is billed by your provider.
  • These apps, connected in Settings → Integrations: Google Sheets and Slack.
  • Nothing to send: the agent runs on a schedule.
  • About 15 minutes.

Set it up step by step

Get the agent first (buy it, or it's already yours when your plan includes it), then in Agents → My agents press “Set up this agent”. That creates the agent's workflow in your workspace (it counts towards your plan's workflow limit) and opens the canvas with a setup checklist above it. Each item links to the exact place to go and ticks itself off when it's done.

1. Connect your AI provider

The AI steps run on your own key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and more). Add one in Settings → AI Providers.

2. Connect Google Sheets

Connect the Google account that can open your metrics sheet (Settings → Integrations → Google Sheets).

3. Connect Slack

Connect the Slack workspace your team uses (Settings → Integrations → Slack).

4. Pick your metrics sheet

Open “Read your metrics sheet”, pick your Google account, paste the spreadsheet link and pick the tab.

SettingWhat to enterIn step
Google accountThe Google account that can open your metrics sheet. Pick your connected Google Sheets account.“Read your metrics sheet”
Metrics spreadsheetPaste the link of the Google Sheet with your metrics.“Read your metrics sheet”
Metrics tabThe tab with one row per period and one column per metric.“Read your metrics sheet”

5. Describe your metrics and targets

Open “Analyze trends and anomalies” and replace the placeholder with what each column means and your targets.

SettingWhat to enterIn step
Your metrics and targetsReplace the placeholder with what the business does, what each column means, which metrics matter most, your targets and anything seasonal the analyst should know. It starts as “[DESCRIBE YOUR BUSINESS, YOUR METRICS AND THEIR TARGETS HERE]” until you replace it.“Analyze trends and anomalies”

6. Pick the Slack channels

Open the two Slack steps and pick your account and a channel in each (they can be the same). Invite the app to private channels first (/invite @Fluxo Flow).

SettingWhat to enterIn step
Slack account (alerts)The Slack workspace anomaly digests are posted to. Pick your connected Slack account.“Post the digest with the anomalies”
Channel for metric alertsWhere weeks that need attention are posted, e.g. #leadership.“Post the digest with the anomalies”
Slack account (digest)The Slack workspace normal digests are posted to. Pick your connected Slack account.“Post the weekly digest”
Channel for the weekly digestWhere normal weekly digests are posted, e.g. #metrics (can be the same channel).“Post the weekly digest”

7. Test it with Dry Run

Press Dry Run: the agent runs on sample data with no messages sent and nothing written to your apps.

8. Switch the trigger on

Open the trigger, check the day, time and time zone, and switch the schedule on.

How it works

The agent is a normal workflow with 9 steps (1 AI step). You can open, edit and monitor it like any other workflow.

  • Every Monday at 8:00 — Runs on a schedule (cron 0 8 * * 1, UTC — change it in the trigger's settings). Runs once a week (change the schedule and time zone on the trigger, e.g. daily at 7:00).
  • Read your metrics sheet — Google Sheets: Read rows. Reads every row of your metrics tab in Google Sheets: one row per period (day, week or month), one column per metric.
  • Analyze trends and anomalies — AI step (runs on your AI provider key). AI compares the latest period with the previous one and the recent average, checks your targets, calls out unusual moves with possible explanations and writes the digest.
  • Check the math — Step. Recalculates each metric's % change against the previous period in code — not by AI — writes the correct figures into the digest, and flags anything the AI got wrong.
  • Anything unusual? — Decision: picks the branch to follow. Digests with an anomaly or a missed target go to your alerts channel; normal weeks go to your digest channel.
  • Post the digest with the anomalies — Slack: Post a message. Branch: Needs attention. Posts the headline, the anomalies with possible explanations, the digest and what to check to the channel you pick for metric alerts.
  • Alert posted — Kept in the run history. The run history keeps the digest and the anomalies.
  • Post the weekly digest — Slack: Post a message. Branch: Normal. Posts the headline, the digest and what to check to your metrics channel.
  • Digest posted — Kept in the run history. The run history keeps every digest.

Test it with Dry Run

Press Dry Run in the canvas. The agent runs on the sample data stored on its trigger (the “Sample data for Dry Run” box), so you can check every step's output before anything is live.

  • Nothing is sent or written: app actions, emails and Slack posts are simulated, and AI steps don't call your AI provider.

Go live

  • Open the trigger, check the day, time and time zone, and switch the schedule on.
  • Scheduled runs start only once the schedule is activated, and can't repeat faster than your plan's minimum interval.
  • The setup checklist adds a “paid plan” item before activation: live runs need a paid plan (the Free plan only runs Dry Runs).
  • When every checklist item is done and the trigger is on, the checklist says “Live — this agent is running”. Follow its runs in the workflow's History tab and in Analytics → Agents.

Questions

Can it query my database or warehouse?

No. It reads a Google Sheet. Keep the sheet up to date by export, by hand, or with another workflow that appends a row each period.

How should the sheet look?

A header row, then one row per period (oldest at the top), with a period or date column and one column per metric. Keep it to the last 6–12 months.

Troubleshooting

  • “No AI provider connected” or a rejected key: connect or fix the key in Settings → AI Providers, then press Test there.
  • A checklist item stays unticked: the setting is still empty or still contains its placeholder text. Open the step from the checklist and fill it in.
  • An app step fails with “Needs reconnect”: the account's access was revoked or expired. Reconnect it in Settings → Integrations.
  • Slack says the app isn't in the channel: in Slack, type /invite @Fluxo Flow in that channel (always needed for private channels).
  • It didn't run at the expected time: the schedule must be activated, and its time is in the trigger's timezone.
  • A step failed: open the run in History and check that step in the Trace tab for the error and what it received.
