Agent setup guide
VIP & Risky Order Alert
Scores every new Shopify order: VIPs are tagged and celebrated, suspicious ones are tagged and held for a person.
What it does
Scores every new Shopify order: VIPs are tagged and celebrated, suspicious ones are tagged and held for a person.
- Starts for each new order in your Shopify store (checked every few minutes).
- Looks up the customer in Shopify to see their order count and lifetime spend.
- AI checks the order against your VIP and risk rules (addresses, totals, quantities, history, tags) and lists the facts behind its call.
- Risky orders get a “review” tag, a Slack alert and a decision in Reviews: approve to mark them “review-cleared” with a dated note; reject to keep them on hold for your team.
- VIP orders get a “vip” tag and a short celebration in Slack. Normal orders are left alone.
What it needs
- A paid plan (agents run live on paid plans).
- An AI provider key (Settings → AI Providers).
- Shopify and Slack, connected in Settings → Integrations.
- Your VIP and risk rules, in your own words.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't cancel, refund or hold fulfillment of orders — a person decides and acts in Shopify.
- It uses order and customer data only; Shopify's own fraud analysis isn't available to it.
- New orders are checked on a schedule (every few minutes), not the instant they're placed.
Availability and plans
Available
Its workflow is built and tested, and every app it needs is live. You can get it and set it up now.
Included free on the Enterprise plan; on other paid plans it's a one-time purchase per workspace (the price is on the Agents page). The Agents page in the app always shows its current status.
Before you start
- A paid plan: agents run live, and the Free plan only runs Dry Runs.
- An AI provider key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and more) in Settings → AI Providers. AI usage is billed by your provider.
- These apps, connected in Settings → Integrations: Shopify and Slack.
- The app it watches, connected in Settings → Integrations (the agent starts from an app event).
- About 12 minutes.
Set it up step by step
Get the agent first (buy it, or it's already yours when your plan includes it), then in Agents → My agents press “Set up this agent”. That creates the agent's workflow in your workspace (it counts towards your plan's workflow limit) and opens the canvas with a setup checklist above it. Each item links to the exact place to go and ticks itself off when it's done.
1. Connect your AI provider
The AI steps run on your own key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and more). Add one in Settings → AI Providers.
2. Connect Shopify
Connect your Shopify store (Settings → Integrations → Shopify) with access to orders and customers (read_orders, write_orders, read_customers).
3. Connect Slack
Connect the Slack workspace your team uses (Settings → Integrations → Slack).
4. Describe your VIP and risk rules
Open “Score the order” and replace the placeholder with your VIP and risk rules.
| Setting | What to enter | In step |
|---|---|---|
| Your VIP and risk rules | Replace the placeholder in “Score the order” with who counts as a VIP (lifetime spend, number of orders, tags, order size) and what looks risky for your store. It starts as “[DESCRIBE WHO COUNTS AS A VIP AND WHAT LOOKS RISKY FOR YOUR STORE HERE]” until you replace it. | “Score the order” |
5. Pick your Shopify store
Pick your store on the trigger and on each Shopify step (customer lookup, the two tag steps and “Mark it cleared”).
| Setting | What to enter | In step |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify store (new orders) | The Shopify store whose new orders start this agent. Pick your connected Shopify account. | “New Shopify order” |
| Shopify store (customer lookup) | The Shopify store customers are looked up in (the same store). Pick your connected Shopify account. | “Look up the customer's history” |
| Shopify store (review tag) | The Shopify store the “review” tag is added in (the same store). Pick your connected Shopify account. | “Tag it “review”” |
| Shopify store (vip tag) | The Shopify store the “vip” tag is added in (the same store). Pick your connected Shopify account. | “Tag it “vip”” |
| Shopify store (cleared tag) | The Shopify store cleared orders are updated in (the same store). Pick your connected Shopify account. | “Mark it cleared” |
6. Pick the Slack account and channel
Open “Post it in Slack” and pick your account and channel. Invite the app to private channels first (/invite @Fluxo Flow).
| Setting | What to enter | In step |
|---|---|---|
| Slack account | The Slack workspace alerts and celebrations are posted to. Pick your connected Slack account. | “Post it in Slack” |
| Channel for order alerts | Pick the channel your order team watches, e.g. #orders. | “Post it in Slack” |
7. Test it with Dry Run
Press Dry Run: the agent runs on sample data with no messages sent and nothing written to your apps.
8. Switch the trigger on
Open the trigger and activate it. New orders are checked on your plan's schedule interval (every few minutes).
How it works
The agent is a normal workflow with 11 steps (1 AI step, with a person approving in Reviews). You can open, edit and monitor it like any other workflow.
- New Shopify order — Starts on “New order” in Shopify (an app event). Starts for each new order in your Shopify store (checked every few minutes, on your plan's schedule interval).
- Look up the customer's history — Shopify: Find a customer. Finds the customer in Shopify by the order's email to see how many orders they've placed and how much they've spent.
- Score the order — AI step (runs on your AI provider key). AI checks the order and the customer's history against your VIP and risk rules and explains its call: VIP, needs review, or normal.
- VIP, risky or normal? — Decision: picks the branch to follow. Risky orders are tagged and held for a person; VIP orders are tagged and celebrated; normal orders end here.
- Normal order — Kept in the run history. Branch: Normal. The run history keeps the score and the reasons.
- Tag it “review” — Shopify: Update an order's tags or note. Branch: Risky. Adds a “review” tag to the order (existing tags kept), so your team can filter held orders in Shopify.
- Post it in Slack — Slack: Post a message. Branch: Risky / VIP. Risky orders: the reasons and a link to Reviews. VIP orders: a short celebration for the team.
- Tag it “vip” — Shopify: Update an order's tags or note. Branch: VIP. Adds a “vip” tag to the order (existing tags kept).
- A person decides on the risky order — A person approves or rejects it in Reviews (the run waits). Branch: Risky. Someone on your team checks the order in Shopify (and with the customer if needed). Approve to clear it; reject to handle it yourself (cancel or refund in Shopify).
- Mark it cleared — Shopify: Update an order's tags or note. Branch: Cleared. Replaces the “review” tag with “review-cleared” and adds a dated note on the order (existing tags and note kept).
- Kept on hold — Kept in the run history. Branch: Keep on hold. The order keeps its “review” tag; your team handles it in Shopify.
Test it with Dry Run
Press Dry Run in the canvas. The agent runs on the sample data stored on its trigger (the “Sample data for Dry Run” box), so you can check every step's output before anything is live. The sample has the same shape as a real event from the app.
Sample data fields
id, name, email, total_price, currency, financial_status, fulfillment_status, customer_id, customer_first_name, customer_last_name, phone, shipping_address.name, shipping_address.address1, shipping_address.city, shipping_address.province_code, shipping_address.zip, shipping_address.country_code, line_items (a list), tags, created_at, order.note, order.source_name, order.billing_address, order.discount_codes.
- Nothing is sent or written: app actions, emails and Slack posts are simulated, and AI steps don't call your AI provider.
- Approval steps use the Dry Run decision you pick in the step's settings (approved, rejected or timeout), so you can try each branch.
Go live
- Open the trigger and activate it. New orders are checked on your plan's schedule interval (every few minutes).
- Activating the app trigger needs the trigger's connected account. The first check only remembers what's already there, so older items don't start runs; the same item never starts two runs.
- The setup checklist adds a “paid plan” item before activation: live runs need a paid plan (the Free plan only runs Dry Runs).
- When every checklist item is done and the trigger is on, the checklist says “Live — this agent is running”. Follow its runs in the workflow's History tab and in Analytics → Agents.
Questions
Does it cancel or hold fulfillment of risky orders?
No. It tags them “review”, alerts your team and asks a person to decide. Holding fulfillment, cancelling or refunding stays in Shopify, done by you.
Does it use Shopify's fraud analysis?
No. It uses the order and customer data (addresses, totals, history, tags) plus your rules.
Troubleshooting
- “No AI provider connected” or a rejected key: connect or fix the key in Settings → AI Providers, then press Test there.
- A checklist item stays unticked: the setting is still empty or still contains its placeholder text. Open the step from the checklist and fill it in.
- An app step fails with “Needs reconnect”: the account's access was revoked or expired. Reconnect it in Settings → Integrations.
- Slack says the app isn't in the channel: in Slack, type /invite @Fluxo Flow in that channel (always needed for private channels).
- No runs start: activate the app trigger with a connected account. Only items created after activation start runs.
- A run shows as paused: it's waiting for someone in Reviews to approve or reject it.
- A step failed: open the run in History and check that step in the Trace tab for the error and what it received.
