Agent setup guide
YouTube Comment Digest
Every morning: your new YouTube comments sorted into questions, ideas, praise and spam, with reply drafts in your voice and ideas filed in Notion.
What it does
Every morning: your new YouTube comments sorted into questions, ideas, praise and spam, with reply drafts in your voice and ideas filed in Notion.
- Every morning, reads the 100 newest public comment threads on your channel through the YouTube Data API, with your own free API key.
- Remembers where the previous digest stopped, so each comment is digested once (the first run covers the last 26 hours).
- AI sorts new comments into questions, video ideas, praise (testimonial candidates), complaints and spam or abuse; comment text is treated as untrusted data.
- Drafts replies to the top 10 questions in your voice, using only your notes and the comment.
- Adds each video idea to your Notion ideas database and posts the digest to Slack with links to every comment.
What it needs
- A paid plan (agents run live on paid plans).
- An AI provider key (Settings → AI Providers).
- A free YouTube Data API v3 key, saved as an HTTP / Custom API connection.
- Notion (with a video-ideas database) and Slack, connected in Settings → Integrations.
What it doesn't do
- It can't post replies (that needs YouTube sign-in): you paste the drafts yourself.
- It reads public top-level comments only (not replies, members-only posts or Shorts remixes), up to the 100 newest per run; a very busy channel may have more in a day.
- It doesn't moderate, hide or delete anything: spam and abuse are listed for you to review.
- Drafts never invent facts, links, dates or promises; unknown answers say you'll look into it.
Availability and plans
Available
Its workflow is built and tested, and every app it needs is live. You can get it and set it up now.
Included free on the Enterprise plan; on other paid plans it's a one-time purchase per workspace (the price is on the Agents page). The Agents page in the app always shows its current status.
Before you start
- A paid plan: agents run live, and the Free plan only runs Dry Runs.
- An AI provider key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and more) in Settings → AI Providers. AI usage is billed by your provider.
- These apps, connected in Settings → Integrations: HTTP / Custom API, Notion and Slack.
- Nothing to send: the agent runs on a schedule.
- About 15 minutes.
Set it up step by step
Get the agent first (buy it, or it's already yours when your plan includes it), then in Agents → My agents press “Set up this agent”. That creates the agent's workflow in your workspace (it counts towards your plan's workflow limit) and opens the canvas with a setup checklist above it. Each item links to the exact place to go and ticks itself off when it's done.
1. Connect your AI provider
The AI steps run on your own key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and more). Add one in Settings → AI Providers.
2. Connect the YouTube Data API (HTTP / Custom API)
Add an HTTP / Custom API connection: base URL https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3, authentication “API key in a query parameter”, parameter name key and your YouTube Data API v3 key.
3. Connect Notion
Connect Notion and share your video-ideas database with the Fluxo Flow integration (Settings → Integrations → Notion).
4. Connect Slack
Connect the Slack workspace the digest goes to (Settings → Integrations → Slack).
5. Point it at your channel
Open “Read your channel's newest comments”, pick the YouTube connection and replace YOUR_CHANNEL_ID in the query parameters.
| Setting | What to enter | In step |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube Data API connection (HTTP / Custom API) | An HTTP / Custom API connection with base URL https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3 and authentication “API key in a query parameter”: parameter name key, API key = your YouTube Data API v3 key (stored encrypted, hidden in run history). Pick your connected HTTP / Custom API account. | “Read your channel's newest comments” |
| Your YouTube channel id | Replace YOUR_CHANNEL_ID in the query parameters with your channel id (starts with UC, from YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Advanced settings). It starts as “YOUR_CHANNEL_ID” until you replace it. | “Read your channel's newest comments” |
6. Describe your voice
Open “Sort the new comments and draft replies” and replace the placeholder with your channel, voice and links.
| Setting | What to enter | In step |
|---|---|---|
| Your channel and voice | Replace the placeholder with what your channel is about, how you talk to viewers, links you may share in replies and topics you never discuss. Reply drafts use only this and the comment. It starts as “[PASTE YOUR CHANNEL NAME, WHAT YOUR CHANNEL IS ABOUT, HOW YOU TALK TO VIEWERS (TONE, EMOJI OR NOT, HOW YOU SIGN OFF), LINKS YOU MAY SHARE IN REPLIES AND TOPICS YOU NEVER DISCUSS HERE]” until you replace it. | “Sort the new comments and draft replies” |
7. Pick the ideas database
Open “Add the idea to Notion” and pick your account and database.
| Setting | What to enter | In step |
|---|---|---|
| Notion account | The Notion workspace with your video-ideas database. Pick your connected Notion account. | “Add the idea to Notion” |
| Video-ideas database | The Notion database ideas are added to, with the properties Name (title), Status (select with an Idea option). | “Add the idea to Notion” |
8. Pick the Slack channel
Open “Post the digest to Slack” and pick your account and channel.
| Setting | What to enter | In step |
|---|---|---|
| Slack account | The Slack workspace the digest is posted to. Pick your connected Slack account. | “Post the digest to Slack” |
| Slack channel for the digest | The channel you (or your editor) read each morning, e.g. #youtube. | “Post the digest to Slack” |
9. Test it with Dry Run
Press Dry Run: the agent runs on sample data with no messages sent and nothing written to your apps.
10. Switch the trigger on
Open the trigger, set your time zone and switch the schedule on. The first digest covers the last 26 hours.
How it works
The agent is a normal workflow with 11 steps (1 AI step). You can open, edit and monitor it like any other workflow.
- Every morning at 8:00 — Runs on a schedule (cron 0 8 * * *, UTC — change it in the trigger's settings). Runs once a day. Set your time zone on the trigger.
- Recall where the last digest stopped — Recalls what it remembered earlier (memory “youtube-comment-digest”). Reads the id and time of the newest comment the previous digest saw, so only newer comments are digested. Nothing is found on the first run.
- Read your channel's newest comments — HTTP / Custom API: Send a request. Calls the YouTube Data API (commentThreads, newest first) for the 100 newest public comment threads on your channel's videos. Your free API key is stored encrypted on the connection and added as the key parameter; each run uses about 1 unit of YouTube's 10,000-unit daily quota.
- Sort the new comments and draft replies — AI step (runs on your AI provider key). AI keeps only comments newer than the last digest, sorts them into questions, video ideas, praise, complaints and spam or abuse, and drafts replies to the top 10 questions in your voice.
- Anything new? — Decision: picks the branch to follow. When no comment is newer than the last digest, nothing is posted.
- Nothing new — Kept in the run history. Branch: Nothing new. No new comments since the last digest; the run history keeps the check.
- Each video idea — Repeats the steps below for each item (up to 10 per run). Branch: New comments. Repeats the Notion step for every video idea viewers suggested (up to 10 per run).
- [For each item — “Each video idea”] Add the idea to Notion — Notion: Create a page in a database. Adds the idea to your Notion video-ideas database (Status Idea), with the viewers' words, likes and links to the comments.
- Post the digest to Slack — Slack: Post a message. Posts the digest (questions with reply drafts, ideas, praise, complaints, spam to review) to your channel.
- Remember the newest comment — Remembers it for later runs (memory “youtube-comment-digest”, kept 60 days). Saves the id and time of the newest comment seen, so tomorrow's digest starts after it. Kept for 60 days.
- Digest posted — Kept in the run history. The run history keeps the digest and the drafted replies.
Test it with Dry Run
Press Dry Run in the canvas. The agent runs on the sample data stored on its trigger (the “Sample data for Dry Run” box), so you can check every step's output before anything is live.
- Nothing is sent or written: app actions, emails and Slack posts are simulated, and AI steps don't call your AI provider.
- For-each loops repeat only the first 3 items.
- Memory steps don't read or write stored memory: a recall finds nothing, and a save only shows what it would store.
Go live
- Open the trigger, set your time zone and switch the schedule on. The first digest covers the last 26 hours.
- Scheduled runs start only once the schedule is activated, and can't repeat faster than your plan's minimum interval.
- The setup checklist adds a “paid plan” item before activation: live runs need a paid plan (the Free plan only runs Dry Runs).
- When every checklist item is done and the trigger is on, the checklist says “Live — this agent is running”. Follow its runs in the workflow's History tab and in Analytics → Agents.
Questions
Can it post the replies?
No. Posting needs YouTube sign-in (OAuth), which this agent doesn't use: it reads public comments with an API key only. Copy the drafts you like into YouTube.
How do I get an API key?
In Google Cloud Console, create a project, enable “YouTube Data API v3” and create an API key (restrict it to that API). It's free; each run uses about 1 unit of the 10,000-unit daily quota.
Where do I find my channel id?
In YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Advanced settings, or in your channel's URL: it starts with UC.
What Notion database do I need?
A database with the properties Name (title), Status (select with an Idea option), shared with the Fluxo Flow integration (••• → Connections).
Troubleshooting
- “No AI provider connected” or a rejected key: connect or fix the key in Settings → AI Providers, then press Test there.
- A checklist item stays unticked: the setting is still empty or still contains its placeholder text. Open the step from the checklist and fill it in.
- An app step fails with “Needs reconnect”: the account's access was revoked or expired. Reconnect it in Settings → Integrations.
- Slack says the app isn't in the channel: in Slack, type /invite @Fluxo Flow in that channel (always needed for private channels).
- It didn't run at the expected time: the schedule must be activated, and its time is in the trigger's timezone.
- A step failed: open the run in History and check that step in the Trace tab for the error and what it received.
